In the bracing pure air of Les Makes, this forest loop hike offers wide panoramas of the island, from the south coast to the Piton de la Fournaise by way of the Cirque of Cilaos, over which we can gaze from the top of the rempart.
The trail starts in the small valley of Bras Patates, which existed prior to the formation of Cilaos, and rapidly leads us to the ridge overlooking it. The ascent towards the Piton du Petit Mapou (1946 m), highest point of our walk, then becomes steeper amongst planted and natural forests. Heading west, we find a charming path heading down towards the Camp de Montplaisir.
